Why one shoot a month beats one big shoot a year.
The big annual shoot feels efficient. In practice, most of those photos are out of date, overused or forgotten within a few months. Here's the case for little and often.

Plenty of businesses do content the same way: once a year, someone books a photographer, the team gets shot in clean uniforms, and a big folder of images lands in the shared drive. For a few weeks the website and socials look great. Then things go quiet again.
There's nothing wrong with a big shoot. But if it's the only one, you're leaving a lot on the table.
1Your business changes every month
New staff, new machines, new projects, new seasons. A photo library shot in March doesn't show the job you finished in August or the new truck that arrived in October.
Customers and specifiers notice when your website and socials show old work. Regular shoots keep everything current, so what people see online matches what you're actually doing.
2Consistency beats bursts
Social platforms reward accounts that post regularly. A flurry of posts after a big shoot, followed by months of silence, doesn't build an audience. A steady stream of fresh content does.
The same is true for people. Customers, future employees and partners remember the businesses they see week after week. Showing up consistently builds trust in a way a single burst never can.
Rule of thumb: one shoot a month comfortably fills one to three posts a week, plus fresh images for your website, tenders and recruitment.
3You capture the moments a big shoot can't
The best content usually happens on a specific day: a pour, a delivery, a harvest, a launch. An annual shoot can only be in one place on one day. A monthly rhythm means the photographer is there when those moments actually happen.
When we photographed Cartel Equipment Hire's fleet, we spread it over six months and four shoots. Every machine in the range got shot on a real job, in one consistent style, instead of lined up in the yard on a single afternoon. The result is a library Cartel can draw on for years.
4Your photographer learns your business
The first shoot with any business involves a bit of learning: the site, the people, what matters to you and your customers. By the third or fourth month, that's second nature. Your team relaxes in front of the camera, the shots get better, and the planning takes minutes instead of hours.
5It's easier to budget and manage
A big annual shoot is a large one-off cost and a lot of organising on one day. A monthly arrangement spreads the cost evenly, can take as little as 30 minutes of your time each month, and means you're never scrambling for images the night before a tender is due.
Big annual shoot vs one a month
- Annual: a burst of content, then silence. Monthly: a steady stream all year
- Annual: photos date quickly. Monthly: always current
- Annual: one day, one location. Monthly: the moments that matter, when they happen
- Annual: a big one-off cost. Monthly: an even, predictable cost
