Privacy policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal information Threadgold Media collects, why we collect it, how we look after it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Threadgold Media (ABN 99 421 788 216) is a photography, videography and content studio based in Mount Barker, South Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Threadgold Media.

1What we collect

We only collect what we need to reply to you and do the work. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:

  • Contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number and company.
  • Enquiry and project details, such as the service you're interested in, shoot location, preferred dates, budget and anything you tell us in a message.
  • Business details needed for quotes and invoices, such as your business name, ABN and billing contact.
  • Website usage information, such as pages visited, how you found our site and your device type (see section 4).
  • Photos and video of people who appear in the work we capture for clients (see section 3).

Most of this comes straight from you, through our website forms, email, phone or in person. If someone else gives us your details, such as a colleague arranging a shoot, we'll only use them for that job.

2How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Reply to enquiries and booking requests
  • Prepare quotes, proposals and project plans
  • Plan, capture, edit and deliver your photos and video
  • Send invoices and manage our business records
  • Understand how our website is used, so we can improve it

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing. If you're a client, we may occasionally email you about your work with us. We won't add you to a newsletter without asking first.

3People in our photos and video

Much of our work features real people: staff, customers and the public. Clients are responsible for letting their staff and visitors know a shoot is happening, and we ask for consent where someone is a clear focus of a photo or video.

We may show work in our portfolio, case studies and social media unless a client asks us not to. If you appear in our work and would like an image removed from our own website or channels, email us and we'll take it down. We can't control copies a client has already published, but we'll pass your request on to them.

4Website analytics, cookies and browser storage

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how people find and use it, and which pages lead to enquiries. These tools record things like the pages you visit, time on site, your device and browser, and roughly where you are. We use this in summary form to improve the site, not to identify you.

The site also stores a small note in your browser recording how you first arrived (for example, from Instagram or a Google search). If you send us a form, that note goes with it so we know which channels are working. It doesn't contain your name or contact details.

You can block or clear cookies and browser storage at any time in your browser settings. The site will still work.

5Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted services to run the business, such as website hosting and form handling, email, cloud storage, online galleries for delivering your files, accounting software and analytics. They only receive what they need to do their job.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers with strong security practices, and by using our website or services you consent to your information being handled this way.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or with professional advisers such as our accountant.

6How we protect and keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including password-protected accounts, two-factor authentication where available, and limiting access to what's needed.

We keep enquiry details for as long as they're useful for following up, and client records for as long as we need them to deliver the work and meet tax and legal requirements, generally up to seven years. After that, we delete or de-identify them.

No online system is completely secure, so please don't send sensitive information, such as banking details, through our website forms.

7Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • Correct or update your details
  • Delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law
  • Stop contacting you

Email hello@threadgold.media and we'll reply within 30 days. You can deal with us without giving your name where that's practical, but we'll usually need your contact details to reply to an enquiry or work with you.

8Questions and complaints

If you have a question or a concern about how we've handled your information, email us first and we'll do our best to sort it out quickly. If you're not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

9Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our business, tools or the law changes. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
